There are a few people out there that when our Pledge of Alliegence was first drafted and up till 1954 there was no mention of "God" there. Now, first and foremost, I do not hold any ill-will to those that believe in a higher power. It's just the ones that keep throwing "GOD" in our faces. "It's in the Pledge! SAY IT SAY IT!!" No, not in the original, I'm truly sorry bible-thumpers, but there's absolutely no mention of that invisible entity hovering in the sky.
Look here:
1892: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Mmm.. this is the original.. I see nothing.
1892 - 1922: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Nope...nothing still, curious.
1923: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States, and to the republic for which it stands; one Nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all." The addition of the US...but still nothing about God.
1924 - 1954: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one Nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all." Yeah.. nothing
It wasn't till after the latter half of the 50s that God was added. I just thought I'd swing a little reality check in here. There was a whole seperation of church and state. Plus keeping it out of our schools, not forcing a religion on those who may have different ideals.
There ya go... Case closed.
