Here We Are!

Yeah, here it is, December 22 - 2012.  So....the Earth didn't get hit with a meteor, it didn't collapse or fall into the sun, we weren't over-run with the Zombie Apocolypse, so what happened?

I'll tell ya what happened... absolutely nothing, nada, zip, zilch.  Big surprise right?  No calendar is gonna tell ya when the world is gonna end.  The sun rose Dec.21st and went down without incident.

Our time on this planet is short to begin with, so why buy into all the hype?  It's all bull if you ask me.  People have been predicting the end of time since... well, the beginning of time, honestly.

That's why, when I hear crap like that, I pretty much just do nothing about it.  It's not worth worrying about, I live my life and enjoy each minute that I am given.   As everyone should.

A Skidz Kidz Christmas

The boys had a plan to see Santa, unfortunately they just couldn't keep their little eyes open and quickly fell into dreamland.

To you and yours, may you have the best of holidays, however you may spend it. From all of us here at BPS and 4B, Merry Christmas!

The Working Bear - Part 4

Greetings y'all,

It's been a few days since I've posted, sorry for that.  I've been pretty busy lately, acclimating myself to the new job and the new hours.  Fortunately, all of the dull, online training stuff is done.  Now I get to work on the floor, learning the register, lotto and gas pumps.  It's pretty basic stuff really, but let me say this, it's a steady paycheck.

For those who are searching for a job, be patient and don't be picky in this economy.  Sure you may have that degree or all those years under the belt, but in these times, take the bull by the horns, swallow your pride and take that job if it's offered to you.  No job is beneath you.

Mostly I'm saying this for all those people out there that say there is no job for them, and they wouldn't be caught dead flipping burgers.  I'll ask this, would you rather be living in your parents basement, living off your friends, living off anyone that will give you a handout?  Or would you rather have a paycheck for your hard work?  The choice, my friends, is in your hands.

I know it's hard out there, I've lived it first hand.  So, take a deep breath and get out there, there are more jobs than you're thinking.  You may be surprised if a little effort is put forth.

If someone like me, who's been outta work for longer than I care to say, can do it, certainly other people can too.  That's all I'm sayin'.

What's So Bad About Living In The Past?

Everything That Was Cool About Being An 80s Kid

Then & Now: Animation

I'm not gonna entirely bash what we have in the present right now.  Given the chance though, I'd so go back to the 80s.   The music, in my opinion, was better.  Television, forget about it, quality programming there.  Yes, I'm an 80s child, I actually grew up during that generation.  Let me throw you a couple of examples okay.. first of all:

Saturday Morning Cartoons, what happened?  They're practically non-existent anymore, unless of course you have cable and then.. well it's a crap shoot.  Here.. this is what I grew up with:

Most of these shows ran for many years.  The animation was slick, the storylines were a lot of fun, and really worth watching.

Here's what we're stuck with today:

What can I say about this mess?  Really?  Animation sucks, it's just plain lazy and cookie cutter.  I have a lot of other examples to go on, but these hold the worst of the worst for me.

Y'all may have different opinions on what you like and don't like.  This was just my opinion.  It also shows just how lazy some people can be.  My advice to future animators, look to those great artists of the past.  You may find that they have a lot to offer, it may take a little longer to hone your craft, but let me say this, it will work out in the long run, and not be another cutting room floor reject.

The Working Bear - Part 3

Once again, I'm rejoining the workforce.  I found out today that I got the job.  So what does this mean for yours truly?  Well, it means I can start doing things for myself again.

For one, paying my own way.  It's hard to take money from other people at times just so you have something in your belly and a roof over your head.  Now, I'm not saying that my roommate would ever kick me out, he's awesome like that.   It just means, I can float rent money his way again.  That in itself is an awesome feeling.

Not to mention the fact that I can put some money away for next year, so I can do stuff like go out to a movie once in awhile or go out to eat or even buy a new game if I so desire.

It means that I can hold my head up high once more.  It means that I'm not falling into that hole of self-doubt and questioning my own abilities.  I will make this work for me now, now that I have that opportunity in front of me.

What I'm trying to say is this, having new opportunities spread out in front of me is just too damn awesome for words.

Rubato Tempo

One of the biggest things we pride ourselves on is the support of the arts, whether it's in writing, drawing, poetry or music.  There are so many facets of expression to explore.

Many people express themselves in many ways, one such person has the voice that could make your very heart melt.  His name, Leonardo Cano, his group "Rubato Tempo."  Please stop by his new site and show him the same love and support that you show us.

I guarantee, you won't be disappointed.

I'll Be Home For Christmas

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

1 cup water
1 (16 oz.) package, wide egg noodles

1:  Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)
2:  In a 13 x 9 casserole dish, mix beef, soup, mushrooms, water and soup mix
3:  Bake for 1 hour
4:  Noodles take about 10 minutes on high boil.
5:  Serve sirloin tips over noodles and enjoy!

The Working Bear - Part 2

I have an interview today at 4:00 today.  I got myself all decked out, right down to a tie.  I haven't worn a tie in sometime, but I think that I got it nailed.  Yeah, I may be a bit overdressed for the job I'm interviewing for... it's a gas station by the way, but the key is to dress for success.  I will get this job.

You see, I was raised to believe that clothes do make an individual when it comes to employment.  You have to show that you'll be with them for a good long time, and that you care about your appearance.  Which brings me to this, and it thoroughly puzzles me.

I have seen people show up in tee-shirts, torn jeans and old sneakers for interviews, they think that they'll get the job just by showing up and having a wee bit of experience under their belt, then they're surprised when they don't get hired, screaming that it's unfair.  Here's a clue, dress appropriately.  It doesn't matter if you're interviewing for a high ranking job or you're pumping gas, that first impression matters.

I don't expect everyone to wear a tie, but c'mon, at least a nice polo shirt and khakis, that at least shows you have some confidence.  If you show up looking like you just rolled out of bed, then don't expect to get hired.  Businesses care about their outward appearance, and their employees should reflect that as well.

That's all I have to say on the matter..

Mr.December

Name: Klaus Switzgard
Age: 29
Birthplace: Kiruna, Sweden
Occupation: Paramedic
Status: Single

After graduating college in 2004, Klaus gave up the cold but beautiful landscape of his homeland to pursue his career in the states. He currently works as a paramedic in Reno, Nevada and has never been happier. Gregarious, outspoken and just an all around friendly fella, Klaus spends his days off either gaming and socializing with his friends or volunteering for the local soup kitchen. A big heart with a brain to match. He's looking for someone to spend the holidays and maybe the rest of his life with, any takers?

A Bit About The Studio

BPS/4B History:

Born in 2009, BPS started on FurAffinity, featuring the artwork of Dan The Bear and stories of Radar.  It has since grown out to other sites, such as Youtube, Inkbunny, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.

After BPS' inception, 4B was born as an audio show on FurAffinity.  Featuring day-to-day commentary and observations of the world.  It is now known on Blogger, Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook.

There were limitations in the beginning, but as a fledgling studio, we hope to break down those barriers.

The Working Bear

It's been awhile since I've had a real job.  It's been pretty rough for me here at home, not being able to go out and do stuff as much as I used to, not to pick up an impulse item when out and about.  I miss that sort of thing.  Like going to the movies, or going out to dinner.

I know a lot of people just say, "Hey, just get a job."  Yeah, I get that.  What do you think I've been doing for the last year, not just sitting on my ass, that's for sure.  The market just plain sucks, and to find a job is more luck, than skill anymore.  At least it is for me.

Recently there has been some light at the end of the tunnel, I've actually gotten a couple of call-backs, and maybe by the end of the year, I'll be gainfully employed once more.  I'll be a self-sufficient bear again.

Then there's my writing, Dan directed me to SofaWolf Press.  They pay for stories and artwork, so that may supplement my income as well.  Any and every little bit helps.

The 4B Vlog

I want to welcome you all to my little corner of the blog-o-sphere.  There's a lot going on in my life right now, between the 4B Studio (Bear's Bare-Boned Broadcast), Bad Press Studios and personal writing.

You will find a lot of stuff here, whether it's pictures, videos or stories, I'm sure there will be something here that will peak your interests.

My goal is to get the word of my studio out there, possibly to find work in the field of communications or perhaps have one of my many stories published.

Generally, I'm a pretty laid back bear.  Not a lot really ticks me off.  But you will find, if you've visited the 4B Youtube channel, that I can be very opinionated.  So like me or not, I'm here to stay and make a name for myself.

Enjoy yourselves and I'll be seeing ya soon!
